SAVANNAH, GA. — Eleanor Vendrick Henries, 73, died Friday, January 05, 2007 at Hospice House.
She was born in Arapahoe, North Carolina and lived her teenage years in Aurora, North Carolina where she graduated from Aurora High School. In 1951, she moved to Savannah. Eleanor and her husband, Audrey were married for 55 years. She was a loving and devoted mother and wife dedicated to the well being of her family and to helping others less fortunate than herself. She was very talented and always full of energy. She was constantly busy with household chores and numerous hobbies which included painting, floral arrangement creations, interior decorating and outside plants, flowers and shrubs. But she was never too busy to assist someone in need. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Eleanor was a communicant of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church on Wilmington Island.
Survivors include her beloved husband, Audrey Henries of Savannah; two daughters, Karen Boutwell and her husband Mickey of Savannah and Jo Anne Brooks and her husband Jackie of Blackshear, GA; sister, Lillian Hooker of Aurora, NC; two brothers, George Vendrick of Andrews, TX and Baxter Vendrick of Norfolk, VA; five grandchildren, Jennifer Boutwell, Shaun Boutwell, Amanda Boutwell, Jeremy Sanders, Jessica Sanders and three great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial was held at 10 a.m. Monday, January 8, 2006 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church with the Reverend Patrick O’Brien, Celebrant. The burial was private.
