Rosa C. Jones, 84, of New Bern, died January 11, 2007 at Bayview Nursing Facility.
Born September 15, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Bluma (Whitford) Coward. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Louis Jones, her brothers, Heber and Leora Coward and her sister Ethel Grey Coward.
She is survived by her sons, Doug Jones (Beverly) and Randy Jones (Michelle) of New Bern; daughter, Lila J. Wiley (Billy) of Cape Carteret; brother, Nathan Coward (MaryLee) of Washington; grandchildren, Jamie Jones (MaryBeth), Sandy J. Richardson (John), Brent, Brad, Joey and Matthew Jones, Courtney Wiley (David), great-grandchildren, Cameron Wiley Lee, Charleigh Richardson, and Bodie Douglas Jones; step grandchildren, Brian and Brandon Balek, Guy Bryan (Sharon), Reid Bryan, Temple B. Pitts (Warren), step great-grandchildren, Peyton, Trey, Chelsea, Cody and DJ, Gentri, Carlie and Brittany. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families and by a very special friend, Pearl Beauchamp of New Bern.
She never met a child that she couldn’t enfold in her arms and love. For many years she provided child care to many children and was affectionately known as “RORO.” She never forgot a single one of them. She always considered them her extended children, along with their parents.
Graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, January 14, 2007 at Lakeside Chapel, Greenleaf Memorial Park with Rev. Dwight Williams officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday at Cotten Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son, Randy, 4917 Cypress Shores Drive, New Bern.
