Mr. Thomas C. James of 1704 Glenview Drive, Greenville, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday in Leon Randolph Funeral Home, 208 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Washington, with Bishop Michael Dixon officiating. Burial will follow in Roberson’s family cemetery, Jamesville.
Mr. James was born Jan. 9, 1939, the son of the late David L. James and Adell J. Roberson. He attended Corey Schools and Jamesville Elementary School. He moved to Brooklyn, N.Y., when he was 15. He worked for Purity Spice Co. for several years and also for one of the airlines in New York. He retired from the East Carolina University School of Medicince Brody Building. He joined the Masonic Lodge and was a third degree Master Mason (Mount Mariah Mason No. 1).
Survivors include two daughters, Darlene James of Winterville, and Annette J. Langley of Greenville; two stepsons, Jimmy Worthington of Queens, N.Y., and Michael Worthington of Bishopville, S.C.; three sisters, Connie Corey and Emma Wiggins of Williamston, and Vera Mills of Durham; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Veronia J. Montgomery.
The family will receive friends today from noon until 7 p.m. at Leon Randolph Funeral Home, 208 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Washington and other times at the home.
