Mr. James Phillip Raiford, 86, of Williamston, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, at home.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Woodlawn Cemetery with the Rev. Bobby Fletcher officiating.
Mr. Raiford was born in Concord on April 3, 1920. He graduated from Concord High School in 1938 and attended N.C. State University until joining the Army Air Corps. He was commissioned as an officer and trained as a bombardier and navigator. Following his Army service, he graduated from Louisiana State University. He worked for Ralston Purina Co. for nine years and then went to work with FCX as a poultry and livestock feed representative and animal health products salesman. He was married to O’Neil Taylor Raiford, who survives. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Williamston.
Survivors include two sons, James Lee Raiford of Vanceboro, and Rex Taylor Raiford of Williamston; two grandchildren; one brother, Robert D. Raiford of Concord; and one sister, Kathryn R. Lambeth of Greensboro.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7-8:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Williamston, and other times at the home.
