Mrs. Helen Ruth Brogden Pearce, age 80, a resident of 761 Breezy Shore Road, Bath, died Sunday, January 14, 2007 at her home.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2007 at the Bath United Methodist Church, Main Street, Bath, conducted by Rev. Raymond Pearce and Rev. George Jones.
Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Pearce, Charles Totten, William Totten, Nicholas Peele, James Edwards, Robert Hardy, Robert Bortz, Ron Parrish and Warren Page.
Mrs. Pearce was born in Durham, N.C. on December 1, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Percy Brogden, Sr. and Lizzie Green Brogden. Mrs. Pearce was a graduate of Hope Valley High School. She worked as an IBM cardpunch reader. Mrs. Pearce had resided in Bath for the past five years. She was a member of the Bath United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Pearce was married to Jon Pearce, who preceded her in death, February 16, 1996.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas Totten esq. and his wife, Sally Wingo Totten of Baltimore, MD, Rev. Raymond Pearce and his wife, Terri of Bath; a sister, Juanita Hunt and her husband, Lawless of Durham, N.C.; five grandchildren, Rebecca Pearce, Charles Totten, William Totten, Michael Pearce, Christina Pearce; and one great grandchild, Jordyn Rose Cindric.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Pearce was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kathryn Ruth Pearce and two brothers, Vernon Brogden and Percy Brogden, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, January 18, 2007 at the home, 761 Breezy Shore Road, Bath.
In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made in “memory of Helen Pearce” to the Growth Fund, c/o Bath United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 281, Bath, N.C. 27808.
