Ms. Katherine Doris Midgette, 48, of 1120 Cowell Farm Road, Washington, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, at home.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday in Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, Slocumb Lane, Engelhard, with the Rev. George Merrick officiating. Burial will follow in Brooks family cemetery, Mulberry Ridge Road, Engelhard.
Ms. Midgette was born in Hyde County on Jan. 3, 1959. She was the daughter of Eunice Midgette and Armando Murray. She graduated from Mattamuskeet High School, Swan Quarter. She was employed as a data entry clerk in New York, and for 10 years as a teacher’s assistant for St. Johns School for Boys in New York.
Survivors include one daughter, Tameka Griggs of Washington; one son, James Joseph Allen of Washington; five sisters, Jeannette Midgette and Cecelia Midgette, both of Engelhard, Minnie Williams of Aberdene, Linda Orr of Hopewell, Va., and Tamara Murray of Spring Valley, N.Y.; seven brothers, Carter Midgette and Thomas Midgette, both of Engelhard, Raymond Midgette of Creedmoor, Vincent Midgette of Miami, Ricky Murray of Elizabeth City, Tyrone Murray of Burlington, and Anthony Murray of Spring Valley, N.Y.; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home of her mother, 229 Slocum Lane, Engelhard.
Arrangements are by Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington.
