Mr. Raymond Harold Reel, 76, died Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at Britthaven of Washington.
A memorial service will be conducted at St. Clair’s Church of Christ on Saturday, February 10, 2007 at 2 p.m.
Mr. Reel, a native of Pitt County, served in the U.S. Army in Japan during the War Crime’s Trials. He was employed with Riddle Brothers for 40 years. Following retirement in 1991, he made his home close to the river near Bath where he enjoyed fishing and working on small engines. He continued his love of making things from sheet metal, which was his trade.
Mr. Reel was a member of St. Clair’s Church of Christ and attended regularly until his health declined.
He is survived by: wife - Maxine V. Reel of Bath; sons - Stephen H. Reel and wife, Donna, of Raleigh and George H. Reel and wife, Sandy, of Winterville; sister, Opal R. Dixon and husband, Roland, of Norfolk, VA; grandchildren - Melissa R. Shenk of Chessee, NY, Jennifer L. Reel of Phoenix, AZ and John Brian Reel of Greenville; step-granddaughter - Natalie H. Francis of Raleigh; great-grandchildren - Erin C. Peele, Talon Shenk, Emma Shenk and Alissa M. Shenk, all of Chessee, NY and Auliya Shenk of Durham, NC.
The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the St. Clair’s Church of Christ Building Fund, 9814 NC 99 Hwy. S, Bath, NC 27889.
