Mr. Jasper “Robert” McRoy, 69, a resident of 1932 Old Bath Highway, Washington, passed Saturday, January 20, 2007, at his home.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, January 22, 2007 from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home, Washington conducted by Pastor Henry Horne. Masonic graveside rites will be conducted at Oakdale Cemetery.
The following will serve as active pallbearers: Snody Carrow, Robbie Bullock, Mickey Linton, Rusty Carrow, Doug Currin, and Sandy Blizzard.
Mr. McRoy was born in Beaufort County on December 4, 1937. He was the son of the late Jasper Rudolph McRoy and Lillian Pearl Cayton McRoy. Mr. McRoy served in the U.S. Army. He worked for the City of Washington, retiring as purchasing agent with 23 years of service. Mr. McRoy was a member of the Union Free Will Baptist Church. He was a member of Orr Lodge #104 A.F. &M., Past Master of the Lodge, and a Shriner.
On October 1, 1961, Mr. McRoy married the former Helen Asby, who survives.
Surviving with his wife are two sisters, Lucille McRoy Wilkinson and her husband, Max, and Jackie McRoy Hoell and her husband, Tony, all of Washington.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, January 21, 2007 at Paul Funeral Home, Washington and other times at the home.
