Mrs. Janice “Jackie” Britt Jernigan, 69, of 404 W. River St., Colerain, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Colerain Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Byrd officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Mrs. Jernigan was born in Bertie County on Dec. 19, 1937. She was the daughter of Willie Bass Britt of Ahoskie and the late Henry Franklin Britt Sr. She was married to A.D. Jernigan Jr., who survives. She worked as an administrative secretary with the N.C. Agriculture Extension service in Hertford County until her retirement. She was a member of Colerain Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Alpheus Stuart Jernigan of Charlotte, and David Neal Jernigan of Colerain; two sisters, Nancy B. Eskew of Texas, and Raula Rozov of South Carolina; one brother, Henry Franklin Britt Jr. of Ahoskie; and one grandchild.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8:30 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, Windsor, and other times at the home.
