Mrs. Nell Lowery Adams Hagood

Mrs. Nell Lowery Adams Hagood, 90, formerly of 407 Atwater St., Burlington, died at Duke Hospital on Friday, January 12, 2007, after 18 months of failing health.
A native of Yeatesville, she was the wife of the late Grover Hagood and the daughter of Lula Bell and George Fenner Adams, both deceased. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elon and Circle Five. She retired as a telephone operator from Southern Bell.
Survivors include a daughter, Sue H. Newsome and husband Tom of Hillsborough; a son, Bo L. Hagood of Indianapolis, Ind.; and four grandchildren, Mark Newsome and wife Jennifer of Burlington, Beth N. Thompson and husband Mason of Chapel Hill, Bo A. Hagood of Indianapolis, Ind., and Brandee H. Bushen and husband James of Indianapolis, Ind. She was “G.G.” (great-grandmother) to Lindsay, Leah and Braedon Thompson of Chapel Hill; Veronica, Cecilia and Thomas Becket Newsome of Burlington; and Sean Michael Hagood, Tanner Wagers and Brodey Bushen of Indianapolis, Ind.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Fannie Mills, Mary Bryan, Hilda Reeks and Olive Talens; and two brothers, John Adams and Harry Adams.
The funeral service was conducted on Monday, January 15, at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington by the Rev. Terry Huffines of First United Methodist Church of Elon. Burial was in Pine Hill Cemetery in Burlington.
