Mr. James Henry “Jimmy” Brown Sr., 78, of 7664 Terra Ceia Road, Broad Creek community, Pantego, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, at home.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Antioch Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), Pantego, with Elder Mack Freshwater officiating. Burial will follow in Broad Creek Cemetery, Pantego.
Mr. Brown was born in Davisboro, Ga., on Oct. 19, 1928. He was the son of the late James and Henrietta Spinks Brown. He attended the Sandersville, Georgia Schools. He also attended Boys High School in Brooklyn, N.Y. He was a Korean War veteran. On Nov. 29, 1953, he married Inez Novella Slade Brown, who survives. He was employed with Rockwell Manufacturing Co., Brooklyn, N.Y., and retired after 25 years of service with Lewis Brass and Copper Company. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Brooklyn, N.Y. He was a member of Holy House of Prayer in Brooklyn, N.Y., where he served as a trustee.
Survivors include one daughter, Rosalind Jones of Brooklyn, N.Y.; five sons, John Brown, James Henry Brown Jr. and Michael Brown, all of Brooklyn, N.Y., Gerald Brown of Miami, Fla., and Carl Brown of Atlanta, Ga.; 25 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Paul Hightower and one sister, Rosa Mae Watson.
The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
The family will receive friends at the home.
