Mr. Fred Warnel Lee McCloud Jr., 60, of 14804 Dixon Court, Woodbridge, Va., and formerly of Belhaven, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007 at Potomac Hospital in Woodbridge, Va.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at St. James Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ, Belhaven, with Elder Barry James officiating. Burial will be at noon Wednesday at Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Road, Triangle, Va.
Mr. McCloud was born Jan. 27, 1947 in Beaufort County. He was son of the late Bettie Petterson McCloud and Fred W. McCloud Sr. He graduated from Belhaven High School. He earned a degree in mathematics and engineering from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro. He also attended Northern Virginia Junior College, where he majored in computer engineering. In 2006, he retired as a computer engineer for Science Application International Corporation in Falls Church, Va. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps, with 22 years of service. He was a member of the St. James Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ, Belhaven.
On Aug. 16, 1967, he married Mattie Windley McCloud, who survives.
Survivors also include one daughter, Gwendolyn McCloud, of Kuwait; one son, Derek McCloud, of Stanton, Va; four sisters, Annie Spencer, Clara Smith, Dorothy Moore and Veretta McCloud, all of Belhaven; three brothers, Jimmy McCloud, of Greenville, Mikel McCloud of Belhaven and Jeffery McCloud of Land Castle, Pa., and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home, 765 W. Old County Road, Belhaven, and also at the home of his sister, Dorothy Moore, 764 Old County Road, Belhaven.
