Mrs. Addie Mae Edwards, age 74, a former resident of Washington, died Sunday, February 4, 2007 at Britthaven Nursing Home of Washington.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington, officiated by George Daniels. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. Lonnie Woolard, Tyler Harding, Rodney Harris, Lee Edwards, Will Harris, Craig Harding, Larry Edwards and Derick Edwards will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Edwards was born in Craven County on May 28, 1932 daughter of the late Wilbur Raines and the late Lala Raines. She attended Craven County schools and continued her education at Beaufort Technical College and received her nursing assistant degree. She married Raphuel Edwards on April 2, 1949, who preceded her in death on June 26, 1999. Mrs. Edwards was a member of West End Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons: Ray E. Edwards and wife Gail of Washington, Larry Edwards and wife Delore of Chocowinity and Alfred Edwards and wife Elaine of Washington; four daughters: Gloria Lucas and husband Phil of Dunn, Carolyn Woolard McCutcheon and husband Alan of Washington, Linda Spivey and husband Lee of Chocowinity and Beverly Clark and husband Bobby of Chocowinity; a daughter-in-law Grace Edwards Mills of Grimesland; 22 grandchildren: Dawn Davis, Camille Norris, Larry Edwards Jr., Fynetta Garcia, Derick Edwards, Robbie Mason, Kathy Bauer, Will Harris, Rodney Harris, Lonnie Woolard Jr., Tina Alligood, Heather Wallace, Kevin McCutcheon, Amy McCutcheon, Kelly Hewitt, Stacy McConville, Tyler Harding, Craig Harding Shyanne Harding, Michael Spivey and Ashley Clark; 26 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by a son; Danny Edwards, two grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
The family will receive friends on Monday February 5, 2007 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Eastern Chapter 400 Oberline Road, Suite 220 Raleigh, NC 27605 or the West End Baptist Church (Building Fund) c/o Amelia Davidson 420 McNair St. Washington, NC 27889.
