Talmadge Ray Tingle Sr., 70, of 2729 Colgate Drive, Fayetteville, died peacefully surrounded by his family, Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Tingle was an Army veteran, member of Snyder Memorial Baptist Church, a member of Orr Sunday school class, Mason, the American Legion and Friendship Club. He was also former president of the Optimist Club in Tarboro. He was a retired employee of Sprint with more than 43 years of service and was a member of REACT, Retired Employees After Carolina Telephone. Mr. Tingle was an avid golfer with the Cape Fear Seniors and the Von Autry Group.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Snyder Memorial Baptist Church with Dr. Mark Olson officiating.
Visitation will be held from 7-9 tonight in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville.
Mr. Tingle is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Norma H. Tingle of the home; sons, Talmadge Ray Tingle Jr. and his wife Shelly of Simsbury, Conn., and Thomas Richard Tingle of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; brothers, Loren Tingle of Lewisville and Richard Tingle of Havelock; sisters, Ann Tetterton of Washington, and Emma Paul of Rockingham; granddaughters, Mary and MacKenzie Tingle; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard T. Tingle; mother, Pearl M. Tingle; brother, Winfield Tingle; and sister, Peggy Nordstrom.
