Mr. Johnnie Davis Bright, 89, of 1230 Kite Town Rd., Vanceboro died Tuesday, February 6, 2007, at home.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Paul Funeral Home of Washington, with the Rev. Henry Horne officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
Michael Bright, Tommy Bizzell, Stan Fifield, Frankie Bright, Edward Ipock and Mike Kite will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Bright was born on Dec. 31, 1917, the son of the late John and Mittie Moore Bright. On Jan. 9, 1950, he married the former Mildred Kite, who survives. He was an Army veteran. He was employed at National Spinning Co. and was also a farmer. He was a member of Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Glenda Bright Kornegay of Vanceboro; one son, Eddie Davis Bright of Greenwich, Conn.; two sisters, Elsie Venters of Jacksonville, and Louise Sheppard of Washington; one brother, Ray Bright of Raleigh and one grandchild.
The family will receive friends at the home.
