Mrs. Bernice Hudson Carrow, 93, died peacefully Thursday, February 8, 2007 at the home of her niece.
The funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The Pallbearers serving will be Greg Arnold, Eddie Gurganus, Anthony Perryman, Sr., Anthony Perryman, Jr., Joshua Melanson and Allen Dudley.
Mrs. Carrow, daughter of George and Florence Smith Hudson, a native of Pitt County, lived her early life in the Ham’s Crossroads Community. After her marriage to Grover L. Carrow, Sr. in 1950, she made her home in the Hackney Siding Community of Beaufort County. She was employed by Belk-Tyler in Washington for 46 years prior to her retirement in 1982. She was a member of Black Jack Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents and husband Mrs. Carrow was preceded in death by, sisters, Estelle Jomp and Valeria Hudson; a brother, Wilbur Hudson, and a niece, Jean Grizzard.
She is survived by: niece, Nelda Holland of Greenville; great-nieces, Valerie s. Lewis of Washington and Melissa Perryman of St. Helen, Michigan; and a special great-great nephew, PV3 William Eric Villella of the United States Army now stationed in Iraq.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Wilkerson Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Valerie S. Lewis, 229 Clarks Neck Rd., Washington, NC 27889.
