Mr. Marvin Lee Barber, 59, of 5210 Felton Rogers Trailer Park, Lot 4, Williamston, N. C., died Friday, February 9, at Martin General Hospital in Williamston.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Snowd Branch Church of God with the Rev. Gary Thompson officiating. The following will serve as pallbearers: Robert Hyatt, Elmo Gorham, Joey Hyatt, Terry Robinson, Jackie Grimes, and James Barber. The family will receive friends at Snowd Branch Church of God tonight, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Mr. Barber was born in Ahoskie on May 7, 1947, son of the late Toby Barber and Della Mae Stevenson Barber. He attended Old Ford School. He married Bobbie Jean Bullock of Williamston on October 9, 1994. He worked as a tree surgeon in tree maintenance for 38 years.
Mr. Barber is survived by his wife; two daughters, Cherrie Barber of Jacksonville and Sherry Rae Stancil of Greenville; and one son, Danny Garfield Manning of Williamston; seven grandchildren; a sister Leta Chapman of Virginia Beach, Va.; two brothers, Elvis Barber of El Paso, Texas and Earl Barber of Sun City, Calif.; and his mother-in-law, Sadie Leary of Williamston. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Kenneth Barber, Doug Barber, Jimmie Barber, and Thurman Barber.
