Mrs. Virginia Bunch Clark, 84, of 169-73 144th Road, Jamaica, N.Y., and formerly of Belhaven, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007, in New York.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Saint Reddick Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. James W. Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Whitfield &Whitley Cemetery, Belhaven.
Mrs. Clark was born in Beaufort County on April 23, 1922. She was the daughter of the late Claude and Verna Bunch. She attended the former Beaufort County High School in Pantego. She was employed in nursing prior to her retirement. She was married to Johnnie Clark Sr., who preceded her in death. She was past president of the New York chapter of the Belhaven Alumni Club. She was a member of Saint Reddick Missionary Baptist Church, where she served in the choir. She relocated to New York where she became a member of Mount Nebo Baptist Church, where she served with the William D. Gardner Gospel Ensemble and Combined Choir.
Survivors include three daughters, Verna Whitney of Pantego and Dorothy Clark and Brittany Clark, both of New York; one son, Sgt. Marvin Clark of New York; one sister, Carol Bunch of New York; two brothers, Nelson Bunch and Anthony Bunch, both of New York; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Claudia A. Clark; and five sons, Joseph, William, Jean, Jesse and Johnnie Jr.
The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Verna Whitney, 4405 Pilley Ave., Pantego.
