The season came to a close for both Washington Pam Pack basketball teams on Monday.
The Washington boys (5-17), the No. 7 seed, lost 82-38 to No. 2 seed D.H. Conley (20-4) in the first round of the Coastal Conference tournament.
Conley, which won both games against Washington during the regular season, raced out to a 22-6 lead in the first quarter. The Vikings continued to pour it on in the second, using a 23-5 quarter to build a 45-11 halftime advantage.
The Pack managed to outscore the Vikings 17-10 in the third, pulling Washington within 55-28. However, Conley cruised home to victory with a 27-10 fourth.
The Vikings will now face New Bern, the No. 3 seed, which was a 71-48 winner over West Carteret.
Germeil Daniels led the way for Conley with 25 points.
Daquan Daniels paced Washington with 12 points. Brendan Rodgers added nine while Cor-J Cox added eight.
The Washington girls (3-20), the No. 8 seed, dropped an 81-33 decision to No. 1 seed South Central (23-0), ranked second in the latest Class 3-A prep poll, in Monday’s first round of the Coastal Conference tournament.
The Falcons jumped out to a 25-10 lead after eight minutes. South Central increased its lead to 56-17 and cruised home from there.
Emily Perkins led South Central with 19 points. Reece Moore added 12 in the victory.
Davey Ann Burbage led Washington with 15 points. Hayley Stowe added eight for Washington.
