Lloyd Calvin Lofland

COLUMBIA – Lloyd Calvin Lofland of the Gum Neck community, Columbia, died at his home on Feb 16, 2007. He was born on Feb. 2, 1926 in Liberal, Kan and had been a resident of Gum Neck for the last five years.
Lofland grew up in Kansas and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Bonny Marcellus in 1945 and they had five children. After the war he was a truck driver, then worked in the oil field for several years. In 1986 he married Jean Clifton and the lived at Lake Perrytown, Texas where he was a director of the Lake Meredith Harbor Owners Association for several years.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Lofland and Marie Miller of Liberal, Kan.; three brothers; Orville Lofland and Ralph Lofland of Liberal, Kan. and Francis Lofland of Wichita; a daughter Sue Lyon of Perryton and by two grandsons.
Mr. Lofland is survived by his wife Jean of the home; his brother Lester Lofland of Canton, Ohio, three sons, Lloyd J. (Jim) Lofland of Florida; Kip Lofland of Texas and Tom Lofland of Sheridan, Kan.; three stepdaughters, Kim Westover of Gum Neck, Kelly Fulenwider of Mesquite, Texas and Kristen Drumond of Romulus, Mich. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, five step grandchildren, one great-great-grandchildren and five stepgreat-great- grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Smith and Austin Walker-Chapel Columbia.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 2 p.m.. at the Gum Neck Cedar Grove United Methodist Church. The Rev. Sherri Lee Jones will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Tyrell County Hospice and The Dialysis Center.
Smith and Austin Walker-Chapel Columbia, will be assisting the family with arrangements.
