Mrs. Lillie Gray Smith Ward, 87, a resident of Britthaven of New Bern, formerly of 813 W. Pantego St., Belhaven, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007 at Britthaven.
Mrs. Smith was born in Pitt County, Aug. 6, 1919 to the late John Smith and Flossie D. Smith. She attended Beaufort County schools. She was a member of Saint Miller Missionary Baptist Church She was preceded in death by husband, Joseph Ward
Survivors include five daughters, Lenora Reddick, Ernestine Ward and Lillie M. Ward, all of Brooklyn, N.Y. Josephine Leathers and Joe A. Midgett, both of Belhaven; three sons, Melvin Ward of Brooklyn, N.Y, Kenneth Ward of New Bern and Keith Ward of Belhaven; a sister, Mary J. Spencer of Belhaven; 29 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
A funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Saint Reddick Missionary Baptist Church with Elder James Stanley officiating Burial will follow in Northside Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home of Willie and Joe A. Midgett, 836 W. Pantego St., Belhaven. Arrangements are by Whitfield and Whitley Funeral Home.
