Mrs. Mittie Loraine Bowen Paul, age 85, a former resident of 9274 N.C. Hwy. 99 North, Pantego, died Monday, February 19, 2007 at the Three Rivers Health &Rehab Center in Windsor.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, February 23, 2007 from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home, Belhaven, conducted by Rev. John Henry Lane and Pastor Al Markuson. Burial will follow in Davis Cemetery, Pungo community, Pantego.
The following will serve as pallbearers: Robbie Bowen, Alan Britt, Wayne Britt, Jerry Lee Giles, Ronnie Garrett, and James Paul Allen.
Mrs. Paul was born in Beaufort County on October 10, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Timothy Milton Bowen and Minnie Lorraine Sitterson Bowen. Mrs. Paul was a homemaker. She was a member of the Union Grove Church of Christ.
Mrs. Paul was married to Hugh McCoy Paul, who preceded her in death, December 6, 1998.
Mrs. Paul is survived by a sister, Ruby Gurganus of Plymouth; four nieces, Elaine Bowen Britt, Patricia Faye Boyd, Janice Bowen Poole and Teresa Gurganus; seven great nieces, Melody Williams Woolard, Carol Jean Bowen, Sharon Britt Oliver, Rene/ Boyd Ange, Leanne Whitford Bloom, Cristy Whitford Johnson, and Melissa Boyd Smith; one great nephew, Robbie Bowen; and one step great niece, Tonya Poole Purvis.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Paul was preceded in death by a son, Rondal McCoy Paul; two infant sons; two brothers, Wilson and David Bowen; a nephew, Robert Garland Bowen; a great nephew, John Andrew Bowen; and a niece, Brenda Gurganus Whitford.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, February 22, 2007 at Paul Funeral Home, Belhaven.
