Beulah Brickhouse Hassell Eburn, 81, longtime resident of Engelhard and a resident of Cross Creek Health Care Center since 2002, died Tuesday, February 20, 2007, at Pungo District Hospital in Belhaven.
Born in Tyrrell County, February 26, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Henry and Sarah Elizabeth Brickhouse. She was the widow of Ray Hassell and later married Samuel B. Eburn, Sr. who also preceded her in death.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Providence Methodist Church in Swan Quarter. Mike Wheeler and Sam Eburn, Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow in Fulford Cemetery, Engelhard.
Surviving are two sons, Lawrence Hassell of Columbia and Samuel B. Eburn, Jr. of Fairfield; a step-son, Ernest Eburn of Oak Hill, Florida; three daughters, Margie Young of Como, Linda H. Gibbs of Engelhard and Shirley E. Farrow of Engelhard; two step-daughters, Donna Rytter of Newport News, VA and Nettie Grandy of Chesapeake, VA; 12 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; 20 step great grandchildren one step great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a son, Oscar Edmond Hassell; two infant daughters, Maxine Hassell and Frances Hassell; a step-son, Stanley Rhein.
The family extends a special note of gratitude to the staff of Cross Creek Health Care, Hyde County EMS and Pungo District Hospital for their special kindness and care.
The family will receive friends at Bryan Funeral Service on Thursday evening, 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
