George C. Burton

Mr. George C. Burton, 80, of the Longpoint community, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, at Craven Regional Medical Center, New Bern.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in Davis Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Fred Manley officiating. Burial will follow in the Burton family cemetery.
Mr. Burton was the son of the late Lorenzo and Chaney Jones Burton. He was married to Eula Hill Burton, who preceded him in death. He was employed with Camp Lejeune Civil Service as a painter for more than 40 years. He was a lifetime member of Davis Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Jerry Burton of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two daughters, Jean Oliver of Jersey City, N.J., and the Rev. Cynthia Smith of Maysville; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four brothers, Issac Burton and Lorenzo Burton, both of Maysville, Joe Louis of Piney Green, and Ernest Burden of Plymouth; and three sisters, Thelma Hill of Maysville, Ida Dixon of Jacksonville, and Alberta Thomas of Stella.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon at Davis Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
