David Arnold Spencer, 55, of 415 Germantown Road, Scranton, died Sunday, March 4, 2007, at Pungo District Hospital. He had been a patient at Cross Creek Health Care in Swan Quarter recently.
Born in Beaufort County, July 12, 1949, he was the son of the late Rupert and Dorothy Sawyer Spencer. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard and retired after completing his year’s of service in the Coast Guard Reserves. He later worked and retired from the Ferry Division of the N. C. Department of Transportation and also worked as a commercial fisherman. He was a member of the Eunice Chapel Church of Christ.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Eunice Chapel Church of Christ. Leon Williams will officiate. The family will speak to friends following the service in the church. Burial will be in the Sladesville Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery at Sladesville.
Surviving are a son, Adam Spencer and his wife, Ginger of Swan Quarter; two daughters, Jennifer Spencer of Bath and Doran Spencer of Kill Devil Hills.; the children’s mother, Jo Mayo Spencer of Mamie; a brother, Bryan Allen Spencer and wife, Marie of Scranton; a sister, Ellen Louise S. Williams and her husband, James W. of Swan Quarter; grandchildren, Emily Spencer and Mark Rowe.
The family will receive friends at Bryan Funeral Service on Tuesday evening, 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and other times at the home of Adam and Ginger Spencer, 7756 Turnpike Road, The Rose Bay Community.
