Mrs. Hazel Dunbar Collins, 91, formerly of Elizabeth City, died Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center, Wilmington.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Paul Funeral Home, Washington. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
Mrs. Collins was born in Aurora on Jan. 31, 1916. She was the daughter of the late Wheeler and Effie Pinkham Dunbar. On Dec. 20, 1935, she married James W. Collins, who preceded her in death. She and her husband owned and operated Albemarle Meats, Inc. for 45 years in Elizabeth City.
Survivors include two daughters, Loretta Newsom of Leland, and Diane Ball of Camden; one son, James William Collins of Lincoln, R.I.; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Saturday from noon-1 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home, Washington.
