Mr. Edwin Gill Knowles, 84, of Three Rivers Health and Rehab in Windsor, died Friday, March 9, 2007.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Walker Funeral Chapel with Carroll Tarkington officiating. Burial will follow with military rites at Edgewood Cemetery.
Mr. Knowles was born May 30, 1922 in Bertie County to the late John P. and Caroline Smithwick Knowles. He was a retired farmer and a life-long member of Cashie Methodist Church in Woodard. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was predeceased by a daughter, JoAnn Pipkin Harrell.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Doris Griffin Knowles of Windsor; a daughter, Betty Knowles Smithwick of Newport News, Va.; a son, Ronald Edwin Knowles of Rock Hill, S.C.; a brother, Russell Blount Knowles of Windsor; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends today from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home in Windsor. Memorial gifts may be made to Windsor United Methodist Church, 408 S. Queen St., Windsor, N.C. 27983.
