Jimmy Kozuch was fully aware that his team could score some goals. He just wasn’t expecting this outburst.
Getting off to a 6-0 start, including 3-0 in Coastal Conference action, the Washington Pam Pack girls’ soccer team is rolling along in the early stages of the season. Washington has scored 30-plus goals while limiting the opposition to three goals.
Kozuch said that he has a pair of superstars in Blaine Prescott and Iris Cruz. While they’re getting their goals, several other teammates have also found the back of the net.
Goalie Ashley Crompton has done a stellar job for the Pack.
Kozuch coached the Pam Pack boys’ team in the fall, leading Washington to an 8-9-1 overall mark. The Pack qualified for the playoffs.
He’s hoping for the same, and more, from his girls’ squad.
Kozuch said his team is off to a hot start, but he’s not content.
Washington is coming off an 11-1 win over West Craven. The Pack scored five goals in the first nine minutes of the game.
Prescott had a hat trick (three goals) in the opening minutes. The junior finished with four goals.
Cruz, Cox, Crompton, Jeanna Buck, Kiara Dailey, Kiki Bailey and Shelby Smithwick also tallied goals for Washington.
Kozuch is hoping for that same kind of balance Monday against New Bern. The Bears and Pam Pack will square off at 7 p.m. at J.G. “Choppy” Wagner Stadium.
