Mrs. Evelyn Rose Belcher Neptune, 72, of 3112 N.C. Highway 45 South, Plymouth, died Monday, March 19, 2007, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Lily of the Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. Jasper Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in McNair family cemetery.
Mrs. Neptune was born in Washington County on Dec. 13, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Joseph William Belcher and Ruth Naomi McNair. She was a graduate of Beaufort County Community College with a degree in library science. She was married to Reginald Isiah Neptune Sr., who preceded her in death. She was a librarian assistant with Pettigrew Regional Library, regional outreach coordinator with Pettigrew Regional Library and creator of “Story Time.” She was a member of the Washington County Board of Education, community outreach coordinator with Washington County Health Department for maternity, prenatal and breast cancer screening programs, member of the D.A.V. and a foster parent. She was a member of Lily of the Valley Baptist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Reginald Isiah Neptune Jr. of Cary, Lionel William Neptune of Bowie, Md., Mario Alexander Neptune of Raleigh and Torod Belcher Neptune of Washington, D.C.; one daughter, Dr. Enid Rose Neptune of Baltimore, Md.; one brother, Daniel Joseph Belcher of Lynchburg, Va.; three sisters, Odessa Belcher of Plymouth, Eunice Belcher of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Joyce Matthews of Raleigh and eight grandchildren.
The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at Lily of the Valley Baptist Church and other times at the home and at the home of her sister, Odessa Belcher, 3172 N.C. Highway 45 South, Plymouth.
Arrangements are by Toodle’s Funeral Home, Plymouth.
