Mr. John Taylor Hardison, Sr., age 74, a resident of 379 Hardison Road, Chocowinity, N.C., died Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at Martin General Hospital in Williamston.
A funeral will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2007, at Paul Funeral Home of Washington officiated by the Rev. Keith Gardner. Burial will follow in the Edwards Cemetery. Mike Barr, Kelvin Hardison, Jason Hardison, Tommy Hardison, Ricky Hardison and Chris Sutherland will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Hardison was born in Beaufort County on June 9, 1932, son of the late Ernest Hertford Hardison, Sr. and the late Alla Nobles Hardison. He was a 1953 graduate of Chocowinity High School. On April 2, 1955, he married the former Grace M. Carawan, who survives. He was a retired farmer who had worked for the City of Washington and the former Singer Furniture Company in Chocowinity.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Grace C. Hardison of the home; two daughters, Patricia H. Tetterton and her husband, Les, of Chocowinity and Judy Elaine Hardison of Blounts Creek; a son, John Taylor “Ricky” Hardison, Jr. of Chocowinity; a sister, Ramona Ingalls of Chocowinity; two grandchildren, Christina Sutherland and her husband, Chris, and Ricky Hardison and his wife, Dawn; and three great-grandchildren, Briana Small, Zachary Sutherland and Hunter Hardison. Mr. Hardison was preceded in death by a son, Charles Thomas Hardison on April 7, 1999, and two brothers, Ernest Hertford Hardison and Herbert Hillary Hardison.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday, March 23, 2007, at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and at other times at the home of Mr. Hardison’s daughter, Patricia, located at 375 Hardison Road, Chocowinity.
