Mrs. Aileen Respass “Rusty” Stamats, age 82, a resident of 602 Bonner Street, Washington, N.C. died Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at Britthaven of Washington.
A graveside funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2007 at Oakdale Cemetery officiated by Rev. Amanda Driskill.
Mrs. Stamats was born in Beaufort County on September 17, 1924, daughter of the late Louis Arthur Respass and the late Olivia Williams Respass. She was a 1942 graduate of Washington High School and continued her education at Old Tayloe Hospital Nursing School. Upon her receiving her Registered Nursing degree in 1947 she continued and received post graduate degree in 1950. Mrs. Stamats also worked at the Beaufort County Hospital and at Onslow Memorial Hospital. She was a member of First Christian Church of Washington and its Christian Woman’s Fellowship.
Survivors include a son: Thomas Thurston and his wife Stella of Washington; a daughter: Susanna G. Stamats of Greenville; four grandchildren: Will Thurston, Josh Thurston, Joe Tripp and Stelanne Moreland and seven great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and at other times at the home located at 602 Bonner Street, Washington.
In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to First Christian Church, Building Fund, 401 East 2nd Street, Washington, NC 27889 or to the charity of ones choice.
