Mrs. Evelyn Marie Armistead-White, 64, of 202 Thomas St., died Wednesday, March 28, 2007 in Plymouth.
She was a retired cook with the Washington County School system. She was born April 22, 1942 in Washington County, the daughter of the late Milton J. Armistead Sr. and Annie M. Brown-Armistead. She was married to James Edward White Sr., now deceased, on April 25, 1960. She was a lifelong member of New Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Union School alumni and the Nutritionist Association.
She is survived by two daughters, Evelyn J. Whitley of Plymouth and Debra Faye White of Alexandria, Va., ; two sons, Ricky Lee White of Bronx, N.Y., and Henry Tyrone White of Alexandria, Va.; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; one brother, Lawerance Owens of Williamston; four sisters, Mary A. Moore of Plymouth, Eloise Armistead of Mount Vernon, N.Y., Delories A. Wells of Reynoldsburgs, Ohio and Elizabeth Arnetta Armistead of Decatur, Ga., and a host of relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by, a son, James Edward White Jr., a sister, Elnora Armistead, four brothers, Milton Armistead, Henry Owens, Samuel Armistead Sr. and William Morris Armistead.
Visitation will be Monday from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at New Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 301 Madison St., Plymouth. The funeral will be Tuesday at noon at New Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Harry Lee White Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Ellis Lee Cemetery.
