Benjamin “Frank” Phelps

Mr. Benjamin “Frank” Phelps, 76, of Roper, died Tuesday, April 3, 2007, at Washington County Hospital, Plymouth.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell, with the Rev. Howard Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in the Phelps family cemetery.
Mr. Phelps was born in Washington County on Aug. 25, 1930. He was the son of the late Theodore and Lela Respass Phelps. He was married to Nancy Spruill Phelps, who survives. He was a retired beater room operator with Weyerhaeuser Corp. He was a member of Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Thomas R. Phelps and James F. Phelps, both of Plymouth, and Michael L. Phelps and Jeffrey L. Phelps, both of Roper; one brother, William R. Phelps of Roper; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Lou Rosas and one brother, Mureal T. Phelps.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7-9 p.m. at Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell, and other times at the home of his son, Jeffrey Phelps.
