Bobby R. Mayo, 1942 – 2007

Bobby Rayfield Mayo, 64, of 33520 U. S. Highway 264, Engelhard died Friday, April 6, 2007, at Pungo District Hospital in Belhaven.
Born in Hyde County, December 18, 1942, he was the son of the late John Rayfield and Bernice Garrish Mayo. He was married to the former Linda Gibbs who survives. He worked for many years as a painter in construction and in 1993, he and his wife organized Shally Bags Cow Parlor. He also managed the sound equipment for Country Mix, a family singing group. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Church of Christ.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Grove Church of Christ. Pastor Russ Smith will officiate.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Bruce C. Mayo and his wife, Abbie of Wanchese and Phillip E. Mayo and his wife, Renee of Kodak, Tenn.; a daughter, Tynia M. Harris and her husband, Mark of Swan Quarter; two sisters, Jo M. Spencer of Jarvisburg and Glenda M. Duke of Washington; grandchildren, Aaron Harris, Jordan Harris, Maranda Mayo, RaeLee Mayo, Christopher Mayo, Maggie Mayo, Destiny Morales and Leo Pastrana.
The family suggests that memorials be directed to Pleasant Grove Church of Christ, c/o Coley Gibbs, 7469 North Lake Road, Engelhard NC 27824.
The family will receive friends at the home.
