Mrs. Viola Marslender Roscoe, 72, formerly of 1406 Harrington St., Washington, died Sunday, April 8, 2007, at Lenoir Memorial Hospital, Kinston.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Pamlico Memorial Gardens with Craig Godley officiating.
Mrs. Roscoe was born in Beaufort County on Jan. 11, 1935. She was the daughter of Hallie Tetterton Marslender of Swan Quarter and the late Carlton William Marslender. She was a graduate of the former J.A. Wilkinson High School in Belhaven and continued her education at Parkview Hospital in Rocky Mount, where she earned her registered nursing degree. She was married to Edward Odell Roscoe Sr., who preceded her in death Feb. 18, 1996. She retired in November of 1997 from Beaufort County Hospital where she worked most of her career in the nursery area of the hospital. She was a member of the Church of Christ faith.
Survivors include one son, Edward Roscoe Jr. of Chocowinity; three brothers, William L. Marslender of Portsmouth, Va., Melvin Ray Marslender of Fairfield, and Carlton “Carl” Marslender of Washington; and two sisters, Ella M. Nixon of Fairfield, and Helen M. King of Dunkirk, Md.
The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home, Washington.
