WILLIAMSTON — Mrs. Mavis Ruby Weathersby Cowan, 72, died Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Biggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rod Dorn and Rev. Jack Weathersby officiating; burial will follow in Martin Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Cowan was a bookkeeper for Manning-Butterworth Supply in Bethel for 56 years. She was a member of the Vernon United Methodist Church. On September 27, 1957, she married Jimmie H. Cowan, who survives. Survivors in addition to her husband are sons , Ricky Cowan and wife Penny Taylor, and Wade Cowan and wife Ray Reniece, all of Williamston; daughter, Jimi Lynne Modlin and husband Michael of Jamesville; sisters, Thelma Williamson of Conetoe and Nell Pollard of Bethel; brother, Jack Weathersby of Winterville; grandchildren, Taylor Cowan, Jacob Cowan, Zach Cowan, Gray Cowan, Bryce Modlin and Michaela Modlin. She was preceded in death by a sister, Rachel Manning and brothers, Robert Weathersby and Archie Weathersby.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Biggs Funeral Home and other times at the residence 203 Martin Ave.
