Damien Linson made the best catch of his career. So far.
The former Plymouth High School and Central Michigan University star signed with the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. He didn’t get picked in the NFL Draft, but Linson caught on with the Ravens as a free agent.
Linson, an all-state performer with the Plymouth Vikings, had a stellar career with the Central Michigan Chippewas. He finished his college career with 155 receptions for 2,279 yards and 17 touchdowns.
As a senior, Linson hauled in 55 catches for 812 yards and five scores. His biggest game came in the Mid-American championship game in leading the Chippewas to a 31-10 win over Ohio University. Linson had seven catches for a title-game record 191 yards and a touchdown.
Linson broke the title-game record of 179 yards set by Marshall’s Denero Marriott in 2001. Randy Moss had 170 yards for Marshall in 1997.
The speedy receiver got better and better with each passing season.
He’ll take that attitude with him to the Ravens’ rookie mini-camp, which begins Thursday.
Linson, who also got an offer from the Detroit Lions, said he give everything he has because of his mother, Linda Linson.
Linson is also dangerous in the return game. He had 23 punt returns for 134 yards (5.8 average), three kickoff returns for six yards (2.0 average) and six rushes for 14 yards (2.3 average) as a senior.
In his career Linson had 49 punt returns for 437 yards and two touchdowns, along with 25 kickoff returns for 385 yards.
