Mr. Earl Guilford, 79, of 29 Jasmine Drive, Chocowinity, died Wednesday, April 25, 2007.
A funeral was conducted April 30, 2007, in Back Swamp Disciple Church with pastor Derrick L. Wilkins officiating. Burial followed in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Washington.
Mr. Guilford was born in Beaufort County on Nov. 22, 1928. He was the son of the late Laura and Amos Guilford. He was married to the former Mary L. Tucker, who preceded him in death. On June 12, 1997, he married the former Ruth Coleman, who survives. He had been employed with the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of Back Swamp Disciple Church.
Survivors include 10 children, Madelyne Daniels, Elaine Gerty, Bonnie Jordan and Ronnie Guilford, all of Daytona Beach, Fla., Joann Guilford of Brooklyn, N.Y., Gloria Morrison of Havelock, Linda Daniels and William Guilford, both of Washington, and Thomas E. Guilford and George Amos Guilford; three stepchildren, Caroline Coleman and Willie Coleman, both of Greenville, and Johnny Coleman of Texas; one grandchild raised as a son, Harry Simpson III; 22 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Earl T. Guilford Jr. and one stepson, Clarence Tucker.
Arrangements were by Manson Mortuary, Williamston.
