Clyde R. Johnson

Mr. Clyde Rufus Johnson, 88, of 111 Bennett St., Washington, died Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at Britthaven of Washington.
A funeral service will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. at the Temple of Jesus Christ United Church with Elder Julius Hunter and Elder William Acklin officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Johnson was born March 1, 1919, in Beaufort County. He was the son of the late Hattie Credle Johnson and Randolph Johnson. He attended the public schools of Beaufort and Pitt counties. He retired in 1981 from the Teamsters Union. He was a veteran of the Army. He also served in the Army reserve and the National Guard. He was a 33rd-degree mason and was active in the American Legion Post 263.
He was married to Mary Harvey Johnson who survives.
Survivors include one daughter, Delores M. Holden, Moorestown, N.J.; two sisters, Ida Canty, Springfield, Mass. and Hattie Charlton, Stone Mountain, Ga.; two brothers, Harold E. Johnson, Philadelphia, Pa. and Raphael Johnson, Bellrose, N.Y.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one brother, William Thomas Johnson.
The family will receive friends at the home, 111 Bennett St., Washington.
Arrangements are by Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington.
