Area golfers will hit the links today with the hopes of qualifying for the state tournament.
Washington’s Marshall Fowle and Will Whitley will compete in the NCHAA Class 3-A East Regional meet at Maccripine Country Club in Pinetops.
Fowle and Whitley are hoping to advance to next week’s state meet, which will be held May 14-15 at Fox Fire Resort and Country Club — East Course in Fox Fire Village. The Pam Pack golfers must finish in the top three individual golfers (not playing on a team) to advance.
Northside’s foursome of Nick Peele, Josh Keel, Daniel Woolard and Jared Adams will participate in the 1-A East Regional meet at Reedy Creek Golf Course in Kenly.
The Panther foursome would like to play another week. The 1-A state meet will be held May 14-15 at Keith Hills Country Club in Buies Creek. The top three teams and top three individuals not on a qualifying team advance to the state meet.
I’m really proud of this group,” coach Peele said. “Nick is the only one on the team who played last year and he did go to regionals.
Coach Peele, who led his team to a runner-up finish in the Atlantic/Albemarle Conference, credited others with helping the Panthers succeed.
The Terra Ceia Knights golf team will participate in the NCISAA Class 1-A state championships May 14-15 at the Hyland Hills Golf Club in Pinehurst. The team is led by all-conference play Derek Joyner and all-conference honorable mention players Payne Snow and Wayne Woolard.
