Mr. Thomas L. McCray, 64, of 875 Marriner Drive, Roper, died Monday, April 30, 2007, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
A funeral service is today at Bethel Church of Christ DOC at 1 p.m. in Roper with the Elder Benny Mackey and pastor officiating.
Mr. McCray was born May 21, 1942 in Washington County to the late Aubrey Tim McCray and Mary Norman McCray. He was a machine operator with the Weyerhaeuser Company for 39 years. He was a Vietnam War veteran.
Survivors include five brothers, Cornelius McCray of Roper, Herbert McCray of Plymouth, Aubrey McCray Jr. of Roper, Robert McCray and Clinton McCray of Roper; four sons, Michael Nixon of Muncie, Ind., Tony Leigh of Philadelphia, Pa., Rondy Nixon of Garner and Chrisaun Mann of Plymouth; five daughters, Stephanie Leigh of Philadelphia, Pa., Cassandra Cooper of Bailey, Amanda Midgett and Dorothy Midgett, both of Plymouth and Valeria Nixon of Roper; and 17 grandchildren.
One daughter, Thomasann N. Wilkins and one brother, James L. McCray preceded him in death.
Visitation was held Sunday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Puckett-Purkett Memorial Chapel in Roper.
