Mrs. Irene Woolard Chapman, 87, of Washington, died Friday, May 4, 2007, at Beaufort County Hospital, Washington.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Mt. Hebron Disciples Church of Christ with the Rev. Gregory Boston officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Chapman graduated from beauty school in Durham and later owned and operated a beauty parlor. She was also employed as a seafood crab picker for Ted Day and Guthrie’s Seafood. She was a member of Mt. Hebron Disciples Church of Christ, where she was a member of the Gray Ladies Club, Helping Hands and the 80+ Club.
Survivors include one son, Gary Chapman, of Washington; two daughters, Juanita Davis of Palm Coast, Fla., and Mary Griffin of Ft. Washington, Md.; four sisters, Christina Smithwick of Williamston, Lillian Smith of Jamesville, Susan Franklin of Inkster, Mich., and Eva Ward of Hamilton; two grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed Thursday from 3-7 p.m. at Leon Randolph Funeral Home, 208 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Washington. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
