Mr. Arthur Douglas Dilday, 71, of Roper, died Saturday, May 12, 2007 at his residence.
He was born Oct. 19, 1935 in Hertford County and was the son of the late Coyan and Mary Crawford Dilday. Mr. Dilday was a retired shift supervisor with Weyerhauser Corp. and most recently worked as a senior safety specialist with the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice system. He was a member of Big Pine Baptist Church in Big Pine, Fla. and more recently attended First Baptist Church in Plymouth.
His family includes his wife, Virginia Foster Dilday of Roper, N.C.; daughters Renee’ D. Sexton of Plymouth, N.C. and Annette D. Miller of Pantego, N.C.; sisters, Juanita D. Burgess of Franklin, Va., and Carolyn D. Floyd of Murfreesboro, N.C.; brothers, Eugene Dilday of Franklin, Va. and James Dilday of Plant City, Florida; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Hagwood and Rev. Charlie Sexton officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery in Murfreesboro. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at First Baptist Church and other times at the residence. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.
