Mrs. Martha Rhodes Swain, 82, of Columbia, died Thursday, May 17, 2007, at home.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Malachi’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, Columbia, with the Rev. Robert May officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Swain was born July 29, 1924, the daughter of the late Steven E. and Dorcas Snell Rhodes. She was married to Abram Lee Swain, who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Malachi’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Sunbeam Bible class.
Survivors include two sons, Lawrence S. “Bucket” Swain of Columbia, and Garland Lee Swain of Pittsburgh, Mo.; three grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren and one stepgreat-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends today from 7:30-9 p.m. at Malachi’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, Columbia, and other times at the home of her son, Lawrence Swain, 561 Jerry Post Office Road, Columbia.
Arrangements are by Smith-Austin Funeral Home, Columbia.
