Henry Marvin Bolen, 78, of 364 Hundley Road, Orangeburg, S.C., died Monday, May 21, 2007, at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, May 25, 2007, at Northside Baptist Church in Orangeburg, officiated by the Rev. Pat Latta and the Rev. Jim Parnell. Burial will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Orangeburg.
Dayle Bolen, Shelby Bolen, Mark Shumpert, Steve Cathey, Jerry Whiteside and Dukes Scott will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Bolen was born March 4, 1929, in Williston, S.C., son of the late Ralph Bolen and the late Nellie Porter Bolen. He was a charter member of Northside Baptist Church, a past deacon and Sunday school teacher. Mr. Bolen was retired from Palmetto Baking after 32 years and was employed with Little Debbie Snack Cakes for 15 years. He was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde L. Bolen.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mrs. Rivie Bates Bolen of the home; four sons and daughters-in-law, Ed and Donna Bolen of Washington, N.C., Barry Franklin and Ann C. Bolen of West Columbia, S.C., Dennis and Lynn Bolen of Sumter, S.C., and Rodney Bolen of Aiken, S.C.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dot Cathey of West Columbia, S.C., and Ruth Young of Williston, S.C.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the residence, 364 Hundley Road, Orangeburg, and at the funeral home. Visitation will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Thompson Funeral Home Inc. in Orangeburg.
