Mr. Jasper Irving Watson, 94, of Plymouth, died Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
Funeral service will be held Sunday, May 27, 2007, at 2 p.m. in the First Christian Church with the Rev. V. Tom Banks officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, May 26, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at First Christian Church and other times at the residence of his daughter.
Born Dec. 24, 1912, in Washington County, he was the son of the late Albert Lorenzo and Lillie Mae Davenport Watson and was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Marie Long Watson; sister, Mertie W. Barber; brothers, Edison H. Watson and Albert G. Watson. Mr. Watson was a retired shipping clerk with 38 years service at Weyerhaeuser Corporation and a member of First Christian Church.
His family includes his daughter, Lillian W. Gurganus and husband Phillip of Plymouth, N.C.; son, Larry I. Watson and wife Nyal of Plymouth; sister, Ruth W. Hackney of Plymouth; brother, Lugene M. Watson of Iverness, Fla.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.
