Mr. Seaton Earnhardt Phelps Jr., 85, of Black Beach, died Friday, May 25, 2007 at his home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Windsor United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Edgewood Cemetery.
Mr. Phelps was born in Windsor on January 29, 1922. He was preceded in death by his father, Seaton Earnhardt Phelps and his mother, Christine Bridger Phelps. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Force 9th Division in England and France. He served in the Air Force Reserve after World War II.
Mr. Phelps was an instructor at Kent County Vocational Technical Center in Kent County, Del., for several years before he retired in 1987. He was a noble in the Sudan Shirners of New Bern and a member of the Masonic Charity Lodge 5 of Windsor for over 50 years. He was married to Margaret Bond Phelps for 58 years, who survives.
Survivors include a brother, Bob Phelps; two daughters, Chris Frazier of Summerville, S.C., and Peggy Schaaf of Salem, Va.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends following the funeral service at the home of Holley Mack and Clara Bell at 407 S. Queen St., Windsor. Memorial donations may be sent in lieu of flowers to the Windsor United Methodist Church.
Arrangements are by Walker Funeral Home in Windsor.
