Warren B. Cherry

Mr. Warren Benjamin Cherry, 90, a Jamesville resident, died Saturday, June 2, 2007, at Martin General Hospital, Williamston.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gospel Light Church of Christ with Jim Cooper, Johnny Barber and John Sweitzer officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Cherry was born in Martin County on June 18, 1916. He was the son of the late Nymphus Staton and Mary Andrews Cherry. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lelia Davis Cherry. He was owner and operator of Cherry’s Roanoke Electrical Appliance. He was a former member of the Plymouth Moose Lodge. He attended Gospel Light Church of Christ. Mr. Cherry loved to paint with oils. He was an avid guitarist.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda C. Godard of Jamesville and Mary C. Barber of Williamston; a son, Benjamin V. Cherry of Plymouth; two sisters, Eva C. Hollis of Moyock and Carrie C. Jones of Williamston; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Mr. Cherry was preceded in death by three sisters, Isabelle C. Jones, Katie C. Hopkins and Lurlene C. Hopkins; four brothers, Fred Cherry, Martin Cherry, Percey Cherry and Dallas Cherry; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Gospel Light Church of Christ from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and other times at the home of his daughter, Linda Godard, 1181 Gatlinburg Lane, Jamesville.
