Jeannette Blackford Carter, 81, of Covington, VA died, Monday, June 4, 2007.
She was born June 23, 1925 in Chauncey, Ohio, daughter of the late Gerald and Nellie Jones Blackford.
Mrs. Carter was a member of Dunlap Christian Church in Covington and was an active member of The Ohio State Grange in Albany, Ohio for many years.
Other than her parents, Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by one grandson, Chad Veasey and by one brother and one sister.
Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Roy William Carter of Covington; a daughter and son-in-law, Billie Jeanne and Lynn Veasey of Johnson City, TN; three sons and daughters-in-law, Roy Scott and Pat Carter of Charlottesville, VA; Rick and Paula Carter of Wilson, NC and Brett and Lisa Carter of Minneapolis, MN; eleven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three sisters Betty Blackford and Carolyn Blackford, both of The Plains, Ohio; and Lois Barrlett of Vienna, WV; one brother, Lloyd Blackford of Heath, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2007 at the graveside in New Marshfield Cemetery at New Marshfield, Ohio with Evangelist Fred Albrecht officiating.
Friends may pay their respects anytime at Arritt Funeral Home in Covington, VA. The family will receive their friends Wednesday evening from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Arritt Funeral Home.
The family suggests that memorial donations in Mrs. Carter’s name may be made to the Southeast India Christian Mission, in care of Dunlap Christian Church, 2353 Kanawha Trail, Covington, VA 24426.
