Mr. Edward Murrell Wilkins, 84, of 828 Wilkins Road, the Pamlico Beach community, Belhaven, died Sunday, June 10, 2007, at Beaufort County Hospital, Washington.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Ryder Hill, the Pamlico Beach community cemetery, with pastors Eric Hill and Dean Fulford Jr. officiating.
Mr. Wilkins was born in Beaufort County on Aug. 21, 1922. He was the son of the late Edward Marshall Wilkins and Rennie Gallop Wilkins. He served in the Navy during World War II. On May 29, 1948, he married the former Eva Phillips Quidley, who survives. He was a self employed commercial fisherman. He was a member of the American Legion. He attended Wades Point Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Christine Latham of Bath; one son, Noland Wilkins Sr. of Belhaven; one half brother, Ben Wilkins of Belhaven; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Della Marleen Wilkins and Rebecca Lynn Wilkins; two sons, Delta Ike Wilkins and Kenneth Murl Wilkins; one grandson, Cameron Squires and two sisters, Molly Potter and May Fulford.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8:30 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home, Belhaven, and other times at the home.
